Tommy Larner was born in Stephenville, Texas but moved with his family to Abilene at the age of five. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1968 and attended Hardin-Simmons University. It was there he met Beth and they were married while they were still in college. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons in 1974 and from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri in 1981.
Tommy and Beth had three sons Rob, Matt, and Joel. Rob passed away in 2002. Matt lives in Austin and Joel in Denton. The Larners have two grandsons, Caleb and Jake.
While still a student at Hardin-Simmons Tommy became a pastor and served churches in Texas and Kansas for a total of thirteen years. Tommy and Beth were appointed as Southern Baptist missionaries in 1981 and served in Ecuador and Mexico until 2000, when they resigned due to the health of Tommy’s parents. In 2003 they were reappointed and served in Mexico and Peru until they retired from the International Mission Board at the end of 2015.
Tommy and Beth are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve in the Del Rio-Uvalde Baptist Association. They look forward to what the Lord is going to do as they labor together with the brothers and sisters in the churches of the Association.
